Gifts of the Garden

Since 2014 we have offered a sharing garden in downtown Lafayette. We now have 30 beds dedicated to providing an abundance of organic produce to our community. In 2023, we were able to build two new ,handicap accessible beds. By freely sharing the fruits and vegetables, we aim to help relieve the personal ill-health effects of our downtown food desert. You are invited to help be a part of the solution. Join us in the planning and maintenance of the gardens, or just feel free to help yourself to its “fresh-from-the-vine” produce. There are plenty of opportunities to help, and produce to enjoy, from April through October!

Tending to the Garden

Each Wednesday morning at 9am from May to September, we gather in our garden to weed, water, plant, and harvest. Regularly tending to our garden not only helps our produce to grow but nurtures and strengthens connections, too. No prior gardening experience is needed to help out in our gardens; we’ll teach you what you need to know.

Gathering in the Garden

Many opportunities for education and community connection have grown from our garden. The garden, along with our heart for community, and unique facilities have given rise to community shared cooking events, shared gardening times, and our children’s Dig It! Gardening Camps. Our produce is also used to feed our neighbors and community at summer Family Dinners.

Keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities for learning and connection in our gardens!
